EDITORIAL STANDARDS

How we research,
write, and verify.

Last updated: September 6, 2026

zsurf.tech is committed to publishing accurate, original, and useful technology journalism. These are the standards every article on this site must meet before it goes live, and the process every published article must survive after publication.

1. Original Research

Every article published on zsurf.tech is the product of original research, analysis, or hands-on testing. We do not republish press releases, vendor marketing copy, or content scraped from other sources. Our authors draw on direct experience, primary sources, and public data sources that we link to and credit where appropriate.

2. Sourcing and Citations

Claims of fact must be supported by a primary or authoritative source. Technical claims are verified against official documentation, vendor releases, peer-reviewed research, or our own reproducible testing. Whenever we cite a statistic, benchmark, or external claim, we link to the original source.

3. Hands-On Testing

Whenever our subject matter allows, we test claims hands-on. Hardware reviews are based on real benchmark data we collected ourselves. Software reviews reflect actual workflows, not hypothetical ones. When we cannot test something directly (for example, a service behind a paywall), we say so plainly and explain our alternative methodology.

4. Fact-Checking

Every article goes through at least one round of editorial review for factual accuracy, technical correctness, and clarity. Articles that include numerical claims, benchmarks, or external statements are re-checked against their cited sources before publication.

5. Conflicts of Interest

We disclose any material conflict of interest that could affect our coverage. If we have received review units, travel, or hospitality from a vendor we cover, we say so. Sponsored content, if any, is clearly labeled as such and is never written by the editorial team.

6. Editorial Independence

Our editorial decisions are made independently of any commercial relationships. Advertisers and sponsors do not see articles before publication. We do not accept payment in exchange for positive coverage, and we do not alter our conclusions to please any partner.

7. Updates and Corrections

Technology moves fast, and articles age. We update articles when material facts change, when a product is discontinued, or when we discover an error. Every significant update is dated in the article. Material corrections are noted transparently. Reader tips about possible errors are welcomed and investigated.

8. AI Use in Journalism

We use AI tools to assist our editorial process where appropriate. AI may be used for drafting outlines, summarizing source material, or generating code samples, but every published article is researched, written, edited, and approved by a human editor. AI-generated text is never published as-is without human review, and we never publish text that is presented as human work but is in fact machine generated.

9. Inclusive Language

We use language that is clear, precise, and welcoming to readers of all backgrounds. We avoid jargon when a plain word works, and we define technical terms when first introduced.

10. Reader Trust

The trust of our readers is the foundation of this publication. Every article is judged by whether it is something we would be comfortable showing to a respected engineer in our field. If we would not stake our reputation on a claim, we do not publish it.

11. Reporting Errors

If you spot an error in one of our articles, please contact us at [email protected]. We will investigate promptly and issue a correction if warranted.
